Huskies host Dinos
Saskatoon — The Huskies will look to get on a roll heading towards the playoffs as they entertain the Calgary Dinos for a pair of weekend games at Rutherford.
The Huskies, who will host the Potash Corp University Cup, have some work to do if they want to secure a top two finish and a first round bye in the playoffs. Currently the Dogs sit third in Canada West just a single point behind the Manitoba Bisons who will host UBC this weekend. Breathing down the Huskies’ necks are the Dinos who are just three points back.
While we know the six teams that will make up the Canada West playoffs, the positioning can change dramatically over the last few games of the season.
It has been a rough start to 2013 for the Huskies who have won just three times in eight tries though three of the losses have been by just a single goal and one was a shootout loss. On the flip side the Huskies haven’t won a game by more than a single goal since December first, and that was against a upstart Mount Royal team that has only registered five wins all season.
David Reekie has seen a little action since returning from injury. He played just over 30 minutes against UBC giving up four goals on 21 shots but in 20 minutes of work against Regina the 25-year-old gave up just a single goal on 11 shots.
The Huskies have just four games left with a pair of games against Lethbridge remaining to close out the season. Games Friday and Saturday night against Calgary start at 7:00pm at Rutherford.
