Huskies host Bisons
The University of Saskatchewan Huskies likely spent the bye weekend watching the teams who were playing as they waited to find out who would be visiting Rutherford in one week. That team will be the Manitoba Bisons.
The Bisons and Regina Cougars had met in the final weekend of the regular season and with the Cougars winning the second game it gave the Huskies second place and a bye in the first round of the playoffs. Well, Manitoba got their revenge as they completed the first round sweep of the Cougars with a convincing 5-0 win on Saturday night. The win advances the Bisons to face Saskatchewan in the Canada West semi-final series beginning Friday at Rutherford regardless of what happens between Calgary and UBC.
Calgary took game one on Friday night but the T-Birds bounced back to double up the Dinos 4-2 Saturday to force a third and deciding game on Sunday. The winner of that series will advance to face Alberta in the semi-final series beginning Friday in the Alberta capital.
