Morning water cooler
So.. the last week was pretty much a write-off for me.
Who knew that the community bottle that was being passed around the hockey locker room during the hometown rec hockey tournament was a bad idea?
I was down for the count with a little sinus/throat thing and am finally feeling like I am over it. This week will be better.
If you are trying to make sense of the Toronto Blue Jay’s 2-4 start to the season you are like most sports fans in Canada. I’ll try to make sense of it if I can.
Relax, it’s April. That’s the first thing you will hear. It doesn’t really mean much but it is early and no need to panic. Nothing new there. But, in all seriousness, anything other than a 10-0 start out-of-the-gate would be considered a disappointment for the Jays with the massive expectations put on the team this season. But the way they have lost has been a bit discouraging. R.A. Dickey has been at the centre of the criticism and hasn’t looked good. He vows that he is very close to Cy Young wining form from last year.
Time will tell.
On Friday we went out to Winston’s. I go there on occasion but have never been in “The Nook.” That’s where we sat. Someone said that it use to be a bathroom but was converted into a back room of some kind. It is not for the claustrophobic types and there was something weird about hanging out in the bathroom. Good night though.
There was a bomb threat at the Dakota Dunes Casino over the weekend. Can you imagine being the guy drooling over pocket aces when the evacuation call is made? Immediately I thought of the Ocean’s movies. That is a great series.
One of my favorite tweets that I have heard lately came from TSN legal analyst Eric Macramalla on Twitter:
@EricOnSportsLaw: Love Pacioretty’s scoring touch; but goodness I’ve seen kidney stones that pass better
Oh, the Jay and Dan Podcast continues to keep me rolling on the floor. Spend a little bit of today listening to just one podcast and let me know what you think. It’s Sportscentre without the highlights getting in the way of all the fun.
Enjoy your week!
